Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 packet dry active yeast
  • 1 cup warm water

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cooked Italian sausage
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. To make the dough, combine the flour, salt, and olive oil in a large bowl and mix until combined. Add the yeast to the warm water and stir until dissolved. Add the water and yeast mixture to the flour mixture and mix until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

2. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a baking sheet with olive oil. Punch down the dough and roll it out onto the baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then top with the Parmesan cheese, mushrooms, olives, sausage, basil, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
