Instructions

1. Begin by washing the rice and soaking it in water for 15-20 minutes.

2. Heat the oil in a rice cooker. Add the cumin seeds and let them crackle.

3. Add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute.

4. Add the coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and salt and sauté for 1 minute.

5. Add the yogurt and mix well. Add the green chillies, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick and mix well.

6. Add the chicken and mix well. Add the soaked rice and mix well.

7. Add 3 cups of water and mix well. Close the lid of the rice cooker and let the biryani cook for 15 minutes.

8. Add the cashew nuts and raisins and mix well. Close the lid and let the biryani cook for 10 minutes.

9. Once the biryani is cooked, switch off the rice cooker and let the biryani rest for 5 minutes before serving.

For this recipe, you will need a rice cooker, a stove, a pan, a spoon, a knife and a cutting board.
