Ingredients

- 2 pounds of flank steak

- 2 tablespoons of olive oil

- 2 tablespoons of lime juice

- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin

- 1 teaspoon of chili powder

- 1 teaspoon of salt

- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro

- 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh oregano

- 1/4 cup of minced white onion

- 2 tablespoons of minced jalapeno (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place the steak in a shallow baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk together until combined. Pour the marinade over the steak, turning the steak to coat it on all sides. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.

2. Bake the steak for 40 minutes, turning the steak once during baking. Remove the dish from the oven and allow the steak to rest for 10 minutes. Slice the steak into thin strips and transfer it to a serving platter. Sprinkle the cilantro, oregano, onion, and jalapeno (if using) over the steak. Serve the steak with your favorite accompaniments.

Notes

The marinade can be prepared the night before to save time. The steak can also be cooked in a preheated skillet over medium-high heat for 4 to 6 minutes per side.
