Description

Pork shoulder is one of the most versatile cuts of pork, and it is especially popular for slow cooking. The electric pressure cooker has become a go-to kitchen appliance for many busy cooks, and it is the perfect tool for making a delicious pork shoulder meal. This recipe uses the heat and pressure of the electric pressure cooker to tenderize the pork shoulder, resulting in a juicy and flavorful meal in a fraction of the time. With just a few simple ingredients, this recipe can be on the table in no time.

Ingredients

2-3 pound pork shoulder roast, trimmed of any excess fat

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

1. Start by trimming off any excess fat from the pork shoulder roast. Rub the pork shoulder with the olive oil and season with the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, thyme, black pepper, and salt.

2. Place the pork shoulder in the electric pressure cooker and add the chicken broth and apple cider vinegar. Close and lock the lid of the pressure cooker.

3. Set the pressure cooker to the “Meat” setting and adjust the time to 45 minutes. When the cooking time is done, let the pressure cooker naturally release the steam for 10 minutes, then open the lid and remove the pork shoulder.

4. Transfer the pork shoulder to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Equipment

Electric Pressure Cooker

Cutting Board

Knife

Notes

It is important to let the pork shoulder rest after cooking so that the juices are reabsorbed into the meat. If you cut the pork too soon, the moisture will be lost and the pork will be dry.
