Ingredients

For the bread pudding:
- 6 cups stale French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 and 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup dried fruit, such as raisins, currants, or cranberries
For the custard sauce:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish and set aside.
